Late Season Hunting Success!

Well...the wife said the other day that I need to shoot two deer before the season ends because we just ran out of last years venison.  I love the late bow season, if the weather isn't too bad.  Yesterday warmed up nice and the boss let me head out to my tree stand.  It wasn't long before the deer started moving in.  They sure are quiet with this fresh snow we have.  Anyways...I had a total of 12 deer in at the same time, and I even got to watch a 4 pt. (how shall we say it) have intimate relations with a doe!  I've only seen a total of 5 bucks while bow-hunting this season with the biggest being a 6 pt.   I decided that I was going to take a big doe and while I drew back on the largest doe that was in...she walked off.  So, there I was all drawn back and didn't want to let off because it was getting late and colder, and I quite honestly didn't know if I'd be able to draw back again, so I did the next best thing!  I picked out the next biggest doe and let it fly.  It was a complete pass through shot and an easy recovery early this smorning after the sun came up.  Now...I need just a little more nice weather to complete the freezer filling and then it's on to ice-fishing!  It would have been a great day even if I didn't get one, just being out there this time of year is so peaceful.

Nothing like waiting until the last minute! After a season of messed up shots, (2 during rife season, and one during muzzle loader,) I FINALLY connected on a young doe a little after 5 O'clock last night! A few years ago, I got my deer in the first 15 minutes of opening day. This year, I get it in the LAST 15 minutes! Makes for a long season! Glad I don't bow hunt, too!
