slip bobbers at night?

Hey There Guy's, Hope all is well? I'm coming up for openers and thought that I would like to try and fish at night with slip bobbers, any idea on where and what to use, should I use minnows, crawlers or leech's.  I know this is not a normal way of fishing the bay, but we now have a pontoon boat and I thought it might be fun to go out one or two nights and try this?

It's not a commonly used technique up here, but there's no reason it wouldn't work. Typically, we cast or troll cranks after dark.

Growing up in Minnesota, the traditional night time slip-bobber bait was leeches on a small leadhead jig. I'd anchor up on top of a hump or reef and wait for the fish to cruise up on top looking for a meal. Only problem is, that's the same kind of structure that a lot of guys like to troll over.

Good luck. Let us know how you do.

Thanks Chris, We are going to try and keep the boat in the water(on the east shore) depending on water levels and weather. Yes since I do know what it is like to have to troll around an anchor, we will be strictly fishing shore line structure that way we will minimize the hassle for other boats! I figure that trying this night thing should be way cheaper than the Casino and might be just as fun as sitting around the fire? Thanks on the yooper thing too!disbelief

For what it's worth, my wife and I shine the shallows quite often at night after we are done fishing, and we always see the most walleye in 4-8 feet of water along the east side between Hunter's and Squaw Points. I think another good spot would be this hump at the north end N 45 53 636 W 86 57 795 . This shallow flat should also have a bunch of walleye feeding after dark N 45 54 000 W 86 58 000. Oh, just thought of another spot that should be great for that type of fishing. It's an under water point off the mouth of the Escanaba River N 45 46 582 W 87 03 322. Good luck and let us know how you do...
