Penn 309's

Hey all,
I can buy 3 Penn 309 reels for about $100. First, is this a fair price assuming they are in good condition? 2nd, would these reels be suitable for strictly lead core duty as they are not line counters? I would be using them for wallaye duty and they are spooled with good lead core now.  Whattaya think?

The newer 309's are going for about $60 so you would be getting them 45% off over buying new.  Seems like a good deel if they are in good shape and the drags are decent.  I've never personally used them but from what I've heard they are a dependable reel.

I think they would work OK for 3 colors of leadcore for walleye.  I don't reccommend runnning like 7 or 10 colors for salmon though because they have a very low gear ratio and your arms/hands will fall off by the time you get a king in.

I believe they were used exclusively on a salmon boat. I've decided to pass on them as I figure they have used "commercially" and likely may need service.   Thanks!
