Today I had the pleasure of sharing the boat with a great family from the Gross Pointe area of lower Michigan. Actually Capt. Keith Wils had half of the family and I had the other half. We got on the water at 7 a.m. for a 1/2 day trip, and then they had to head to the little league baseball tournament in Gladstone. Our bite started out pretty good, we were trolling Walleyes Choice bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses in 26 to 30 fow. If all the short fish would have been keepers it would have been a great morning. We ended up with 10 keepers for them as well as some really nice perch. It's so nice to see families enjoying days like this together, it reminds me of when I was young and going out with mom and dad in the boat or spending the day in the ice shanty. I forgot the camera today and didn't get any on the water pictures, but here's a picture of today's catch in the cleaning shack. My best colors today were I-80, I-62 and the ol' standby I-42. Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area, we'll be back out there tomorrow if the winds don't get too strong.
