The last couple of days has seen a really tough bite for us.  Yesterday morning I fished with Amy and Lee Carrigan from Gladstone (winners of a 1/2 day trip at a charity benefit).  We got on the water around 7 a.m. and the wind was already blowing like crazy.  We headed to our breakline that's been really good to us lately, however the fish just didn't seem to be "on" like I thought they would have been with the nice south wind we had.  We marked lots of fish, but could only muster up one nice walleye before heading to a new location.  We trolled Walleyes Choice harnesses behind bottom bouncers for the last couple hours of the morning and caught two more nice walleyes and a couple of decent perch and that was the extent of our fishing.  Today started out much the same as yesterday, but with a little less wind.  I fished with repeat customers Rick and Wanda from Illinois.  We made a short drift using floating jigs tipped with crawler halves, with only one keeper and some other bites, but the fish just really seemed to be off this morning.  We ventured to a new location and trolled bottom bouncers and harnesses for the rest of the morning and caught 6 more keepers, some undersized walleyes, and lost several short biters.  The fish seemed to get more active the closer we got to noon, I don't know if it was the wind picking up just a little or that we were finally getting rid of the moon in the sky.  I've had many tough bites when the moon and the sun are in the sky at the same time, just an observation that I and others have noticed over the years.  Whatever the reason, the fantastic bite we've had the last couple of weeks has slowed some.  Time now for a couple of days of R & R.  Heading down state to visit violent Jay, catch a limit of crappies off his dock, and finally see one of the best rock bands of all time...Aerosmith! Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area, we'll be back out there chasing more googly eyes next weekend.
