I ran to McDonalds today and got something to go, then stopped and sat at the Gladstone Yacht Harbor to eat while I read the paper. Anyway, while sitting there eating for maybe all of 20-25 minutes, I bet I saw at least 50 Monarch butterflies coming across the bay from a northeast direction heading in a southwest direction. The whole time I sat there eating, it was one butterfly after the other. Several times there were 4 or 5 in a group. Kind of surprised me since the wind is pretty much out of the west and blowing like heck. I'm just guessing the huge drop in temperatures with this cold front must have really kicked the Monarch's into their fall migration for Mexico. Sometimes the simple things are so cool!!! The butterflies were still coming when I left at about noon if anyone else would like to check it out...
