Today was spent over on the big pond in search of smallies. Patrick, Jeff and I headed out of the Nahma launch around 11 a.m. this morning and headed to a new place we've never fished yet. The last couple of years we've been doing some exploring and fishing new locations and trying different techniques. Today we caught fish using a variety of methods, but most came by casting tube jigs. We also caught a lot of fish using the drop-shot method. I've been having really good luck with Kalin's Lunker Grubs in the 3 and 4 inch Smoke Holographic color placed on a Stand-Out hook with a pencil sinker for a weight about 18 to 24 inches below the hook. Our best tubes were chartreuse and anything goby colored. We didn't get any huge fish today, but we caught probably close to 75 fish, so it was a lot of fun. Any smallie on the end of the line is always fun!!! Jeff got a bonus pike that hit a firetiger shad rap that he was casting along a weedline just before we headed in. All of our fish were released to fight again. I'm not sure what we'll do tomorrow...weather forecast is not looking real good. We've had a lot of wind to deal with this week and tomorrow will be no exception. Who knows...maybe we'll take the day off and hit the golf course . Anyways...here's a few pictures of today's trip over on Big Bay...good luck from all of us in the Bays de Noc area.
