Well...I haven't been too busy on the water lately, so I've had a little bit of time to get out in the woods during bow season. I've just been hunting a small 1/3 acre food plot I put in behind the house a couple of years ago. With the help of a chainsaw, lots of raking, some Roundup, and a little fertilizer...and presto...a food plot! This year I planted rape and clover, knowing that the rape probably wouldn't last long, but the clover should last well into the fall. That's exactly what happened too, they ripped all the rape up by Oct. 1st, the clover is still going strong...but is dwindling pretty fast now that we've had a frost and they're hitting it hard. I used a trail camera for the first time this year, and it's pretty cool to see that all your hard work pays off. Last night it paid off big time...as I was able to harvest a nice 2 1/2 yr. old 8 pt. He came into the plot with a spike, a really nice 3 pt. and some does. I didn't hunt Tuesday because the wind wasn't right, but the northwest wind last night was perfect for my stand location. There's no better feeling than hearing the deer you just shot crash about 40 yards away. He's not a giant, but he's a nice one to me. My family loves venison and the meat is greatly appreciated in our household. Here's a few pics.
From the photos and the video it appears as though you will have a chance at all the meat you need. Nice looking food plot. Looks like it might have been a little bit of work.
