Ice south of Gladstone

Made my first trip out south of Gladstone tonight on the "new" ice. Fished off the harbor on the outskirts of the colony that's forming out there in about 30 FOW. I couldn't keep the hooks in anything tonight, and ended up going 1 for 5 on walleyes. Got the one 19 incher and missed 2 more on a #9 Glow Tiger Jigging Rap, missed one on a Clown Shiver Minnow, and missed one more on a tip-up with a 3 inch minnow. Had about 5 1/2 inches of good clear ice with just enough snow to make for easy walking.

Talked to one guy that just put his shack off the Shell Station, yesterday. He said he had about 4 inches of ice, there. I also saw that someone tried walking off the Terrace today. It looked like they made it about halfway to drop-off before they turned around. I'm guessing they didn't like what they found. Really, it's still pretty early for that spot. You usually can't get out there until well into January.
