Decided to take Cam out fishing with Uncle Kevin Sunday afternoon (since there were no good football teams playing ). We decided to try a new spot that looked quiet at the time. We got set up and fishing by 3:30 or so and it was pretty slow for the first hour or so. We were marking fish that looked like smelt, and I did get one to bite on a small jig with a wiggler on it, but it came off. I landed a nice perch on a #5 firetiger jigging Rap, released an undersized walleye, and we had a couple of flags on tip-ups but the fish just pulled out line and dropped the bait. Then at "prime time" we had another flag and this time there was finally a fish on it. Cam got to bring in his first walleye on a tip-up and it turned out to be a real nice one at that. We did get frustrated a couple of times as somebody drove literally 10 feet from our portable on a 4-wheeler on his way to his permanent shanty, and then a little while later, right at prime time, somebody drove by on a snowmobile between our shanty and tip-ups. Seems like if people can't drive a straight line to their destination out here they must think they're going to get lost or something. I guess it's just a sign of how we're becoming as a society...no respect or common courtesy for each other anymore! Anyways...Cam's first trip of 2011 was a success!!! Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.
I think someone likes posing for the camera as much as they like to catch fish !!! Congrats Cam !!! That was a dandy. Even the "pine cone" was a nice one. LOL Slammer!!!
