I've decided to get the Garmin 78s GPS. I was wondering what kind of card to get for it. so I am asking the posters here what you use? I would like to here your pro's and con's on which card you use.

Hey buddy,

I use a Lakemaster chip while ice-fishing and navionics in the boat. All my chips are several years old now, and I'm sure newer ones have had some improvements. None of the chips are 100 % accurate! Lakemaster shows some things Navionics doesn't and vice versa. Not sure, but I think Lakemaster may have more inland lakes on their chips. Like I said, I have no experience with the most recent chips. Six of one, half dozen of the other...

Lol... I guess I am always a## backwards... I use the Navionics in lbdn and farther south I use the Lakemaster... Get um both. You can find them on e-bay and craigslist all the time. Doesn't have to be the latest and greatest... Shows the detail and contour you need and all they do is add lakes and define the contour lines better. Was talking to a Lowrance rep. and he said in a few years you will be able to tap into gov. sattalite with realtime contour info like the Navy. Guess that will be the next thing on the market. One more thing.... New sonar units are using micro SD.. If you buy a new card buy a micro cause with the adaptor you can use it in regular sd.. Otherwise if you buy a new sonar in a few years the regular SD card's wont fit in it... (just a head's up)
