My brother Kenneth and his clients got off to a late start for todays half day charter due to thunderstorms. After waiting out the storms, I think they finally left a little before 8:30. Anyway, they ended up with 10 keeper walleye today. The average size was way better than yesterday too with a couple really nice ones. Kenneth can fill in the blanks on what the hot spinner was today. I'm also curious what the water temperature was today. Good luck on the water folks...
Well...it's very frustrating when the weatherman predicts a southeast wind at 10 to 15 mph and when you get out fishing it's pretty much flat calm for the next 5 hours! I had good intentions of fishing some shallow water yesterday where the wind would dirty it up a bit...the only thing was there was no wind (until it was time to head in). We did find a nice pocket of dirty water and slowly but surely kept getting one here and there. We baked in the hot sun and put up with lots of bugs...but the effort was worth it! With the conditions we had I was pleased with the 10 nice fish we did get. All of our fish were caught trolling Walleyes Choice harnesses behind 1 3/4 oz. bottom bouncers at .9 to 1.0 mph.. I-81 was good as well as I-76. We had a water temp. of 70 degrees when we headed in. I'm sure that will change this weekend though as we are supposed to have much cooler temperatures and north winds that will blow the warm water out. Fishing will surely be a little tougher this weekend, but that just means we'll have to change tactics and probably slow down and do some drifting with floating jigs again. Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area...
