I always look forward to this fishing trip, three generations of the Otten family from the Milwaukee area. We gave Gene (85 years young), Henry and Nick a workout today. I was worried that with the East wind it might be a tough day, especially with the water temperature dropping from 70 down to 64 in just a couple of days after the strong cold front we had come through Wednesday. Today we exclusively trolled Walleyes Choice (http://www.walleyeschoice.com) harnesses behind bottom bouncers for the fulll 8 hr. trip. We left the Gladstone Harbor at 8 a.m. and 108 night crawlers later we had 16 good "eaters" and released well over 50 sub-legals today. It was pretty much non-stop action until the last hour when the fish seemed to slow down some. Our best color by far was I-62...that color is always awesome when the mayflies are hatching out. We also caught many, many fish on I-51 and I-76...you always have to have one or two purples out in the spread. Many of the fish that I cleaned had bellies full of wigglers. It was a little smaller run of fish that what we've been getting, but some great eating nonetheless. Tomorrow we'll give it another shot and probably try some different areas looking for some bigger fish! Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.
