My brother is here on leave right now while on his way to his new post at the Pentagon. We had hoped to get him on some good fishing before he left, and figured the walleye bite might be good off the Ford River tonight. Never would have guessed it would turn out as good as it did!
Set up outside the main group fishing off the river mouth and started catching fish right from the start. Nothing special, just crawler harnesses behind 1/2 ounce bottom bouncers. Color didn't matter. If it moved, they ate it! Just for the heck of it I put an orange Senko on one of the harnesses, and caught just as many fish on that rig as the ones with the crawlers! Caught several fish as we were letting the line out behind the boat. Several doubles and one triple, (not bad considering we were only running 4 lines.) By the end of the trip we easily boated between 40 and 50 fish, with all but a few of them being legal sized.
Needless to say, the three of us had a great time tonight and will be remembering this trip for a long time to come. Judging by all the nets going out in the other boats, so will a lot of other people, too.
