After landing 28 keepers by 10:30 am last Friday, my brother Kenneth and his clients went out today and got skunked!!! Those fish sure can humble you sometimes...
Last wed was the peak moon phase with 3 day either side being peak fishing. All the reports Ive seen sure agree with the moon phase theory and hot fishing last week. Locals down in my neck of the wood swear by it and we got our first walleye at the peak phase.
Actually that fish came from Wautuagua lake in East, TN last Sunday on lead core. I live in work in Western North Carolina on the TN Border. Ive been folowing the fishing on Big Bay an will be there for seveal weeks in early mid/july to fish on the bays
Yup...the fishing totally stunk. We caught an undersized walleye, one decent northern, released two dandy smallies and killed a couple of sheepshead! I think the poor fishing had more to do with the strong low pressure system that came in than anything else. Fishing prior to the low was fantastic and then the severe weather change probably threw them for a loop for a few days. With stable conditions coming in I think the fish should be on the bite again soon. Looks like nice temps and south winds for most of next week.
