I was able to get the first two weeks of July off this year to once again explore the fishing opportunities big bay de noc has from my home port of Fayette with my two kids and relatives that showed up. I was quite anxious to baptaize the new lund sport angler in bay de Noc waters for sure. Fished Perch, Bass, Pike, and Salmon everyday. Small mouth fishing was great with lots of good size small mouth on any good weed line or isolate shallow rock pile in isolate bays and shore lines. The "Black" bass, that's what my Grandpa used to call'em were still spawning and still in 2-3 ft of water. Bandit crankbaits and probably any others were deadly on weed lines and rock piles and wacky rig senkos deadly on any bedded bass. Actually got out of the boat to wade some shallow coves to approach gangs of super shallow spawners. My son thinks he Kevin Van Damm now pounding big smallies. Salmon Fishing started out really good in early July as noted in some post and my nine yr old son and I fished the Bay De Noc Salmon Tournament out of Fairport and got a limit of kings on Sat, but no monster to make the board but great fun as he brought them to the scale. Salmon seemed to have tailed off after that and seemed to have kept moving North. Pike were in the deeper emerging weed beds. I thought I was doing good on Pike and caught a limit of keeper along with bass until the boat next to me landed this 48 incher! Just a few pics. Bay de Noc sure has it all. Didn't fish walleye nor was many being caught thay i heard of, so didn't put much time in for them.
Sure did, There are so many great fishing opportunities it hard to squeeze them all into just two weeks. No reason to go to Canada that's fore sure when the Bay Area has it all.
