Today's trip started out very sloooooooooooow.  We headed out of the Gladstone Yacht Harbor around 6:30 a.m. and went right back to the place we left fish yesterday, however the fish were nowhere to be found.  We were fishing along the East bank in 28 feet of water, but the fish must have moved elsewhere.  We only made one pass trolling harnesses behind bottom bouncers before making a change.  The wind was blowing just enough to break up the sunlight in the shallows, so we decided to pitch jigs along a weedline and also drift with floating jigs tipped with 1/2 crawlers.  With 5 people in the boat you have to be a little creative in order for everybody to have an opportunity to catch fish.  Two of us sat in the front and pitched 1/4 oz. jigs and the other three sat in the back drifting with the floaters.  Both methods produced fish.  By 10 a.m. we had 6 nice walleyes and some beautiful smallies.  They kept two bass and I released a 17 incher and a 21 1/2 incher, one of the biggest I've ever caught.  The rain came, so we headed back to the resort for a while to look at the radar, eat a bite, and make a plan for the afternoon.  Don and Char were the only two that went back out, however after only one drift along our weedline it was getting pretty rough and they were ready to call it a day.  We did manage to pick up 3 more nice walleyes, so we ended up with 9 for the day and some nice bass.  Not too bad for only about 4 hrs. of actual fishing time.  They've been fortunate to eat fish every night they've been up here, maybe tomororw we can get a few for them to take back home.  Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.  Here's a picture of the morning's fish right before I cleaned them, and another beautiful sunrise over the Bay!!!
