My brother Kenneth and his clients didn't do too much on this mornings half day trip. A couple keeper walleye, a keeper pike, a couple jumbo perch, and a gazillion sheephead. My wife Theresa and I launched the "SS It Floats" at Rapid River this afternoon and went in search of some perch. Tomjohn made me hungry for perch!!! Anyway, nothing up in the Whitefish River or out off the mouth. Finally found some in 8 feet of water directly off the mouth of the Days River. Nothing huge, but big enough for me to eat! We also caught a couple small walleye, a keeper pike (released), and she ended the day with an 18 inch smallmouth that hit right at the boat and must have jumped 4 feet in the air. She is going to be pissed because for some reason, the video camera never started recording today and she was looking forward to seeing that crazy jump by the smallmouth. Caught almost all of the perch on the smallest Cubby Mini Mite jig with chartreuse head/purple tail being the best color and no bait. The perch went nuts for that color. Theresa said she is heading to Bayshore Resort tomorrow to pick up some more purple ones. It was a little windier (rougher) than I would have like for our 14 footer, but beggers can't be choosey...
