GARDEN - A Marquette man was listed in stable condition at Marquette General Hospital this weekend after he was struck by a snowmobile, apparently on purpose, in Garden on Saturday, according to the Delta County Sheriff Department.
The victim, 21, was ice fishing on Garden Bay near Ansells Point when a snowmobile came dangerously close to the victim and a tip up set out by the victim at around 1 p.m., according to a news release from the sheriff's department.
When the victim flagged the snowmobiler down, the driver came back and an argument ensued. The suspect then accelerated the snowmobile toward the victim and struck him, causing severe injuries, according to the news release. The snowmobiler fled the scene.
A person who was fishing with the victim, and sitting in a vehicle on the ice, flagged down a passerby who rendered aid and transported the victim to shore, deputies said.
The victim was transported to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Marquette General where he was listed in stable condition on Sunday.
Deputies continue to investigate the incident and are looking for a 32-year-old male from Delta County and possible other suspects, said Sheriff Gary Ballweg. No arrests had been made as of this morning.
