My opening day charter got pushed back to the weekend, so today I grabbed a couple of buddies and just went snoopin' around looking for fish for tomorrow's trip and to make sure everything in the boat was working. We didn't get on the water until after 8:30 and the thunderstorm finally moved on. We made one drift with floating jig heads tipped with half crawlers in some deeper water...landing one keeper, a short fish, and then it was time to move on. Headed north and made one trolling pass with bottom bouncers and harnesses and picked up 3 more nice fish from 16 to 24 1/2 inches and lost several more. We pulled the lines and drove around graphing for most of the next hour before heading in shortly after 11 a.m.. Reports coming into the resort varied from excellent fishing last night for the few that went out at midnight and slower fishing for most of the guys that went out this morning. Heard of a few guys getting limits early this morning. The cold front has pushed through and the air temp. went from 87 at my house down to 60 right now, and tomorrow's highs supposed to be in the upper 50's with a north wind. So...we'll see what this front does to the fish, hopefully there's still enough biters around. Here's some video from today. Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area...
