On Wednesday June 6th my brother Kenneth fished with Charlie High for 5 hours on Big Bay de Noc. Charlie lives in Alaska and was here visiting some friends and is one of the nicest guys we have ever run across, period. They never got into the walleye, but did catch several smallmouth bass. Have to go out with Tomjohn I guess and see how it's done!!! Kenneth had Charlie High out again on Friday for another 5 hour trip and they fished Little Bay. While they didn't catch a lot of walleye, they did catch some big brutes!!! They ended up with a 26 inch pike, 26 inch Whitefish, and 3 walleye that were 28, 29, and 30 inches. I told you they were brutes!!! We didn't post right away because Kenneth was fishing in a tournament on Sunday and didn't see any need to possibly give away where he and Charlie caught the big walleye. Kenneth fished the tournament with good friend Gary Daniels and tournament rules only allowed 3 fish to be brought in with only two fish over 23 inches per the slot limit. They caught a nice 19 incher pretty quick for the one fish under 23 they needed then headed to the open waters of Green Bay for the two big fish allowed. They caught a nice 28 incher that must have been a male because it only weighed 6.8 pounds. It should have been closer to 8 pounds. They never did catch another big walleye for their 3rd fish, but they did catch a heck of a nice catfish (my favorite!).
