Mass Swan killing......!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is what a resident of Fayette found across from where they live.

The DNR is killing the swans down here. They didn't even cover them up.

The pic of the truck and boat are them leaving.

Not positive on this, but it seems like there were some killed over by Gladstone a few years ago, and some folks were upset. I believe the reason given was that they were Mute Swans, not a native specie, and are disruptive to the native waterfowl. The mutes are swans that were brought here to swim around in peoples ponds like decorations, sort of like goldfish with feathers. Also, I think they reproduce rapidly, large bunches of young ones. I'm sure the DNR can explain better than me.

I remember when they shot the swans here in Gladstone 2 years ago I believe , and there was a huge uproar about it. Yes, they are not indiginous to this area and in the last 2 years the have reproduced quite a bit and now there is a pretty good population of them along the west shore. I dare you to drive along the highway between gladstone and the Terrace and NOT see them. If they are doing harm to the eco system and need to be moved or destoyed, then the least the DNR could do is give us a heads up with an explanation, and a better disposal method. They sure are beautiful to watch and look at , and I have some great pictures, but also don't want them to explode in population like the cormorrants. Should be interesting to say the least. P.S. I hear they taste just like Snow Owl !!! Slammer!!!

We'll have to add em both to our menu out on the ice. I talked to Schmutz and he said he would bring some Bald Eagle Poppers. They go good with a nice Zebra Mussel Pesto!!! Slammer!!!

From what I've heard, they taste more like a cross between a loon and a whooping crane.

I got my limit of loons once and didn't really care for them.
