Two of us made the trip this past weekend. We fished all day Saturday and Sunday morning. Trip started out bad when my batteries were dead in my headlamp on Saturday morning. After we arrived on the water early on Saturday, set up the shack in the dark and just got all situated beaming with confidence for the morning bite. Turn on my Vexilar, and it doesn't mark bottom. Great time for the transducer to go out. I tried fishing without it, but that lasted about 2 minutes. Funny how electronics rule my fishing experiences now. Anyway, got transducer mid day and $120 later I was looking forward to fishing again..... We ended up with two keepers that night, but lost 3 fish just below the hole.. We ended up catching five keepers on Sunday morning.. All fish were on #7 Green Glow tiger.... Hopefully, this is a sign of things picking up. A lot of people were on the water on Saturday, but the pressure really slowed down on Sunday. Took ride to beach house in Escanaba to look at potential Portage Point fishing. Any advice, reports, or words of wisdom for a potential afternoon sit out there?
Thanx for the report goat. Much better than mine. 5 guys and only two whiteys between us. Rain kinda made it a bear where the snow was deep. Still a good way to spend my day off.
