Well, it's been a weird deer season this year. This year I told myself I wasn't going to shoot anything unless the kids were with me, but two nights ago that changed. With only a couple days left of muzzleloading I decided to shoot a nice doe. I still have one more doe permit to use, so hopefully I can get it done today or tomorrow so I can start ice fishing when I get free time. It's been pretty cold to take the kids out lately. The kids and I saw lots of small bucks during rifle season, but nothing big enough to shoot. I didn't see as many deer as we normally see in the farm country where we live, but plenty of small bucks for the future. Cam helped me drag her out and gut her, and he was pretty proud and happy that we finally got one. I've been blessed to shoot plenty of deer over the years, so now it's all about teaching the kids and getting them more involved so we can continue the great tradition and right to hunt. Here's Cam with our doe.
