Well , today was bittersweet!!!  Tried a new spot today in the middle of nowhere and the closest people to me where at least 3/4 of a mile away. Wanted to get out earlier but didn't get set up till 2:30.   Jigged my brains out and never marked a fish and no flags. Decided to take a break at about 4:00 and when I went to put my pole down I saw a mark on the vex flying up to my lure so fast I thought it was a mistake, and I instinctively jerked the rod up and just about had my arm ripped off when it hit. I could not believe how fast this thing came flying up and could not believe the fight it put on.  Best fight on a jig pole I ever had and heaviest fish I ever would have caught. I'll be a SOB if i didn't lose it at the hole.

i would not be surprised if the guys 3/4 of a mile away heard me hollerin and cussin  and swearin!!!   She never hit the hole, but I did get a look at her and WHAT A PIG!!!   would have been a picture and release, but still.  I was shaking in my boots afterwards.  That was my 30 point buck!!!

Only had a few marks the rest of the night, but caught 2 of the other 3 marks. Fish were super aggressive just like Ms. Piggy and the bellies were empty.  Came home with 2 dandy keepers and a bruise on my A$$ from the kickin Miss Piggy gave me.

Slammer!!!

Very nice!!! Guess I better get my butt back out there. Truth be told, until today, it was just too cold for me! I know, I'm turning into a wimp. But at least I'm honest about it!!! Great job buddy and congrats!!! Oh yah, the empty bellies... We (mostly me, because it's unbecoming for a charter captain you know) dug through our fish gut pails for 3 years and collected the stomachs for the DNR. If I remember right, over 90% were empty...
