Other than wearing two pairs of long underwear, do you do anything different in your fishing style or game plan when we get these long cold snaps??? Target different areas or depths, or doesn't the cold front have as much effect on fishing like it does during soft water fishing!!!
Any changes in presentations during cold snaps??? Wondering what the general concensus is............bigger baits, smaller baits, shallow, deep, slow presentation, fast.........????
During this cold snap we are having it seems for perch you have to keep the bait moving.
I used a dead stick along with jigging the last two times I was out and never caught a fish on the dead stick.
Smaller fresh baits worked well for me like minnow heads plus tipped with a wiggler. This set up worked really good for me.
A bait that worked real good for me was a bait that is something like a Halie jig but I ordered them from Petestackleshop.com called a Whip Tail.
I hope this helps at least a few people. Oh ya Another tip...Don't drop you lures to the perch. MAKE the perch come to your lures. By this I mean drop your
lure down and about two to three feet from bottom STOP the fall. If they are there they will come to you. If the are not there and your jigging and they come in
keep jigging your bait up up up to about two feet off bottom. They WILL swim up to it and the ones that do are usually the bigger perch.
