Yesterday's trip was with long-time client Gary Shackelton and his lovely wife Sharon.  This was Sharon's first time coming along with Gary and I on a fishing trip.  We got on the water shortly after 6 a.m., and after seeing the water temperature I wasn't really feeling that it was going to be a good day.  The strong west/northwest winds from the day before had blown out the warm water and the water temperature had dropped 7 degrees.  Cold fronts almost always slow the fishing down, but when you have a severe drop in water temperature like that...it's like a double whammy!  Well...after pitching jigs for just a few minutes we caught a fish!  This told me the fish were still there, and that we would just have to keep at it and hope they got active.  When they get active you can put a lot of fish in the boat in a short time, and that's exactly what happened yesterday.  We had two or three keepers, and then we hit a spot where there was an active group of fish and in the next 1/2 hr. or so we boated a few more.  Boat traffic in the area was spooking the shallow-water fish, but eventually most of the boats left.  After the wind started to blow I thought the fish would light up, but the bite actually slowed somewhat.  We ended the morning with 11 keepers, several throwbacks, and we also caught 3 big suckers!  The conversation was great, as always, and I look forward to fishing with Gary again in August.  Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.
