Last week I had the pleasure of fishing with a nice family from the Rochester area of Michigan. Rex Legler and his son-in-law Shane and his two sons Dillon and Drew came up to do some fishing on the Bays de Nocs. We started out Monday on the little pond fishing for walleye. I thought they would have been on fire because of the strong south winds we had the previous day, but we only ended up with 9 keepers and a bunch of undersized walleyes. Tuesday and Wednesday we were rained out. Thursday we hit Big Bay for some bass action, and we were greeted with a strong East wind that kept me from fishing two of my favorite numbers spots. We did manage to catch quite a few smallies, but the strong winds made for a much tougher day. Friday we hit Little Bay again for some walleyes, and yes...we went out in that driving rain. We only made it until 11 a.m. before we all cried "uncle" and gave in to Mother Nature. We did get 7 nice walleyes pitching jigs/crawlers before we came in. I feel really bad that they had such nasty weather the week they were here, but we made the best of the days we could get out and sent some nice eating sized fish home with them to enjoy. I did release a 42 1/2 inch pike I caught on Big Bay while tossing a tube for smallies...it was quite the battle on 6 lb. test. They didn't want to troll, which I think would have put more walleyes in the boat, but that's o.k., I will do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.
That tough week you guys had was still better than my week of work!!! Just sayin!!,
