Snowmobile and ATV rules

My son and I are coming up either this weekend or next weekend to fish.  Are there any special rules we need to know about pertaining to ATV's or snowmobiles?  Helmets required?  Flotation?  Thanks in advance.

The DNR are enforcing the helmet law on the ice this year in force, so yes wear helmets! I've never heard of any floatation rules for ATV's. No trail permit needed, but an ORV sticker is a must! Good luck! :)
