I got the kids on the bus this morning, and being the only day this week that I'm not busy, I thought it would be a great morning to try and get some fish for my freezer, and maybe try a new area or two before charters coming up at the end of the week. I had so much fun on Sunday's charter, fishing with Chuck and John, so I decided to go jigging for a while. I got on the water at the crack of 8:30 and by 10:00 had my limit of nice eaters. Three 16 1/2 inchers and two 19 1/2 inchers. The fish were still where we left them on Sunday, and biting pretty good. I checked out a couple other shallow areas, but could not find any other fish willing to cooperate. Caught them all again on a 1/4 oz. chartreuse jig tipped with just half a night crawler in 13 to 18 feet of water. The water temperature was 57 and I think it has to get a little warmer and get some weed growth before the shallows really turn on. The fish never made it to the freezer, once the kids found out we had fresh walleye, they knew what they wanted for supper! Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.
I don't care what anybody says...............The quality and taste of the fish we get out of our Bays de Noc wether it be Walleye, Perch, Bass, Lawyers, Salmon and maybe even them Bullheads are second to none.
Best eating around IMO!!!
