May 21st Report
(Preview)
Wow was it cold as we started yesterday's trip, I had to defrost the truck windows and I think I even heard some robins chirping about heading back south! We got on the water around 6:30 and immediately started catching fish, but they were on the short side. There was no wind really to speak of, so we wer...

May 26th Jigging fun
(Preview)
I got the kids on the bus this morning, and being the only day this week that I'm not busy, I thought it would be a great morning to try and get some fish for my freezer, and maybe try a new area or two before charters coming up at the end of the week. I had so much fun on Sunday's charter, fishing with Chuck and J...

Sunday May 24th trip.
(Preview)
I had a great trip yesterday with Chuck and John from Illinois. It started out kind of slow, as we went down south but didn't get any wind at all to get the fish going, so we moved back to the north end. We put out the Walleyes Choice harnesses (http://www.walleyeschoice.com) in I-34, I-110, and I-76. W...

Opening Weekend
(Preview)
Contrary to popular belief.............yes, Slammer hit the soft water!!! The whole time I would have rather been in a nice warm, dry ice shack with something good in the frying pan, but I got talked into it and felt shamed. Fished opening day in the rain and it was our best day. All fish came between 9:...

Spoke to several guests today that went out in the rain this morning and none of them really slaughtered them. One boat came back with 6, another with 7, couple others with just one or two. But I also know that a charter captain and his clients ended up with 17 keepers, so I really don't know what to make of i...

Lake levels .
(Preview)
Water level seems to be up again from last year. Was driving between Escanaba and Gladstone yesterday and I know it was a SW wind blowing water into the bay, but it sure was nice to see the water banging up against the rocks next to the highway instead of seeing dry land and grasslands. Anyone else notic...

Strange times! Walleye quit eating the day (10/8 ) after we caught some big ones with Captain Ken, and this week
(Preview)
in Greenville one lake showed only nice specs, another only perch, and a third only bluegills. All fish were good eaters at least, and no little biters. Not a hungry bass anywhere. 22 degrees last night and Halloween gusting snow make me wonder if its time to winterize the boat.

Perch!
(Preview)
Had some friends up recently that did real good on perch. They did not catch as many "toads" as they did last year, but still a very nice average size for eating. Lots of 9-10 inchers. Anyway, they caught them in only 5 feet of water. Could not get a bite with a minnow on a plain hook. Had to use a real small jig...

To help keep Little Bay de Noc one of the premier walleye fisheries in the country, 3500 - 3700 6-7 inch fall fingerlings were planted yesterday in the Whitefish River (a tributary). The Delta County Convention and Visitors Bureau provided all the funding ($8000.00). Be sure to check out their new w...
