Saturday I fished with Mark and his son Jonathon as well as LaMar and his son Paul. We sure didn't knock 'em dead, I believe we only managed 5 or 6 keepers. Sunday was a blow day and we didn't venture out. Yesterday we headed south a ways and on our first trolling pass we caught a nice 21 incher. I thought it was going to be a great morning. Then it got slow for us. Paul caught a monster carp on a crankbait, LaMar caught a huge catfish on a crawler harness, then I decided we had just enough time to head out to 11 foot shoal. We just got the baits in the water when one of the rods over the side of the boat doubled over and Jonathon was into a big fish. It turned out to be a nice 28 incher. We kept trolling over some rock humps and soon another board went back and this time it was Paul's turn. His fish was even bigger, at 29 inches. We fished a little while longer, losing two fish, and it was time to head in. Not a great morning of fishing, but if you're only going to get a few fish it sure is nice to see the kids land the big ones.

Today with the brutal west wind we stayed in the bay. I fished with a great family from the Lake Orion area of lower Michigan. Ken, Annie, Chris and Andy got to see planer-boards in action for the first time. We fished the north end of the bay where the wind had dirtied up some water over a weed bed. We trolled Walleyes Choice harnesses (
http://www.walleyeschoice.com) and actually had a pretty decent bite going until the wind finally blew us off around noon. We ended up with 9 keepers and several throwbacks. Three of the fish were right at 20 inches, the rest just 16 to 18 inch eaters. We were using 1/4 oz. in-line weights to pull our spinners just over the weed tops and when the fish hit, they hit hard. I-62 was by far the best color today. Here's a few pictures from the past couple of days, good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.
