My brother Kenneth and Captain Keith Wils each took 3 guys out from a party of 6 this past Friday and Saturday mornings on 5 hour trips. Calling the bite tough would be understatement! Neither boat caught anymore than a couple walleye and a couple pike on either day. Kenneth's 5 hour trip this evening with Steve Lambert was a little better. Not great, but an improvement none the less. It was quality over quantity with them bringing back 6 really nice walleye. I think Kenneth said they all came on cranks with the exception of one (which hit a spinner). He didn't say what the water temperature was, but I'll ask him and post it tomorrow. It was only 19 degrees on our thermometer at the store this morning, so I'm thinking the water temperature just might have dropped!!! Special thanks to his wife Dawn for coming out and helping hold the stick. Good luck on the water folks...
What a weird afternoon on the water, wind switched directions at least 4 times and by the time we headed in we had 3 to 4 foot rollers out there and it was getting worse. We managed to get some really nice fish and lost 3 or 4 others before we headed in. Leadcore and shallow cranks did the trick and we were marking literally hundreds and hundreds of fish. I can't wait to get back out there today, and I think I'll bring a thermos of hot chocolate!!!
