Even though a snowmobiler went thru the ice (http://dailypress.net/page/content.detail/id/516660.html?nav=5003 ) , that does not mean there is not plenty of good safe ice. You just have to use some common sense!!! Stay away from the river mouths and anyplace with current. You will always find the ice much thinner off Squaw, Hunter's, and Saunder's Points due to strong currents. You also have to be aware of where the shipping channel is. It's best to stop into a local baitshop as all the baitshops can show you where the shipping channel is. As you can see in the pictures, there is nothing to stop you from going ice-fishing!!! Just don't be stupid!!!
