We tried a spot last night that has been good in the past. But it's also a feast or famine in this spot. Last night, it was famine! We had 7 people out covering water depths from 32-58 feet and didn't catch squat! Good friend Gary Daniels (aka walleyeguy) was the only person to actually hook a good fish, but it came off right below the hole. Gary could see his lure plain as day laying on the bottom in 40 feet of water. Now that's clear! Anyway, a couple dinks were caught, but that was about it. The highlight of my evening was having a fish show up at 24 feet on my graph ( in 58 feet of water). I quickly raised my lure up to about 5 feet above it and it started to follow. The water is so clear that I thought I might as well look down the hole and see if I could see the fish. I could. It was a huge carp!!! And I mean HUGE. It had a big lamprey hanging on it's side to boot. Now what the heck is a carp doing suspended? Live and learn. On a side note, while walking the dog this morning, I saw a Robin. So maybe the Ground Hog was wrong about 6 more weeks of winter...
