Today's half day trip was spent fishing with Rick and Darrell, a couple of great guys that come up and stay with us every June. Rick gets the trip from his kids for Christmas each year, and the past couple of years we've had some pretty good fishing. Today, however, the north winds cleared up a lot of the dirty water I've been fishing the past couple of weeks and the fishing was tough because of it. After catching a few small walleye, one keeper, a pike and a couple of sheepshead pitching jigs/crawlers...we made a move south to troll Walleyes Choice (http://www.walleyeschoice.com) crawler harnesses in some darker water down by Escanaba. We managed two keepers doing that and then the northeast winds were making boat control tough so we headed up the Escanaba River for the last hour of the trip. We managed to pull two more keepers and several undersized walleyes before it was time to head in around noon. Not the greatest morning of fishing, but we did get enough fish so the guys can have a pretty good fish fry one of these nights. I think they were happy to find another spot to fish when the weather gets too bad to be on the bay. Here's a picture of today's catch, some nice chunky fish, one of which would have been real nice to have in yesterday's tourney. Instead of finishing 2nd, my partner and I would have come real close to winning.
