My brother Kenneth and I got on the water about 3:30 this afternoon to try and find some fish for his charter tomorrow (since he hasn't been out in about a week). The plan was to try several spots and if nothing else, eliminate some water for tomorrow. We searched with the electronics for the first 45 minutes or so and then started fishing where we marked the most fish in one area. It wasn't long before I had a real good fish on my outside board, but it came off! This fish was only down about 10 feet in 35 feet of water. That was a good start, even if we didn't land it. We actually marked good numbers of fish and caught fish at 3 of the 4 spots we tried. We caught walleye both suspended and near bottom trolling with boards and spinners, drifting with floating jigs, and pitching jigs in 6-12 feet of water. The biggest problem we had today was all the weeds floating on the surface. What a pain in a$$!!! Two of the best colors on the Walleye's Choice spinners were I-67 and I-80. Color didn't seem to matter as much on the floaters as we caught fish on chartreuse, orange, red, and firetiger. Chartreuse did seem the best color though on the jigs in the shallow water. All in all, a great 4 hours on the water (we quit at 7:30). My brother and I always have a great time fishing together. If we catch fish, that's just a bonus...
I have always wanted to try pitching jigs on LBDN. Tell me some details. Are you usually dragging them slowly? Lifting and dropping? Ripping jigs? Do you use weedless jigs some and toss right in the salad or are you fishing just at or off the edge.
Been slowly learning a bit about open water trolling with boards, emphasis on the slow! But I have always loved pitching jigs as does my wife. Hope to give that a try one day soon.

Loyd, It's easiest for me to just show you how we jig. As you can probably tell in the video, my brother was kicking my butt when we were pitching the 1/4 ounce jigs in the shallow water!!! In the 2nd clip, Kenneth hooks a fish, and dummy me, I turned off the camera. I thought it was off and mean't to turn it on! Anyway, as you can see, it's a long sweep of the rod, then pause until your jig hits bottom. Most of the time, when you go to make your next long sweep, you actually set the hook as the fish inhaled the jig on the drop of your last sweep. We were not actually pitching right into the weeds, but right next to the edge. And many times, if the water is dirty, there are just as many fish on the inside of the weedline as there are on the outside of the weedline. Hope this helps and good luck...
