The Rapid River boat launch was "ground zero" today for planting walleye in Little Bay de Noc. Roughly half (of the almost 7,000) 6-10 inch walleye purchased by the group "Walleye Restoration" from the Soo Band of the Chippewa Indians were set free about 1:30 this afternoon. If anyone would like to take their kids down for a peek at the fish, the other half of the plant should take place about the same time tomorrow (Tuesday). The fish were in great shape when they arrived and I can personally say I didn't see a single casualty today. Thanks again to all the donars for making this such a great success! This includes the Hannaville Indian Tribe,UPPCO, and those that "bought" walleye in our on-line store. We are hoping to continue these plants for at least the next five years.
