Got Cam off to school this morning and Noel wanted to go fishing again. So...off we went to try and get some more perch. Daddy forgot and left the kids poles in Mommy's car, so we had to get a fishing pole from the resort and get it all set up with a hook, sinker, and bobber! We tried minnows, but all we could get the fish to bite on was leafworms. Noel caught the two biggest fish and we got enough for a nice meal again. We had to keep a few small ones that swallowed the hook, but the biggest ones spanned across a 5 gallon bucket. We only fished for about an hour and a half too. When Cam got home from school he was more than willing to hold a couple for a picture before daddy cleaned them. They had small crayfish in their stomachs, so I would imagine anywhere there's rocks now...you'll find some perch. Mmmmmmm...they were delicious!
Nice catch guys! Beats sitting around the house watching tv, any day.
I got out of a doctors appointment sooner than expected this afternoon. Figured I'd better take advantage of the last nice weather window we might have for a while. Left Kipling and headed up to the area between Days River and Center Reef where we last ran into some fish on Friday. There were a few boats anchored up in the area, but I didn't see any hooksets while I was graphing the area. I marked very few fish, so I headed down to Saunder's Point. No fish there, either. Decided to check the first big drop East of Butler's Island. Marked a few fish along the base of the breakline in 20FOW. With less than an hour of light left, I set up on them. Landed 3 nice perch and 2 rockbass. Not great, but with those 5 plus the 10 from Friday, we had enough for a nice meal. All the fish in the deeper water were barfing up baby gobies. Caught them on both worms and minnows. Water in the bay was 51 to 53 degrees.
