The docks are still in at Kipling too. There is some ice for a few yards out from the docks, looked to be maybe 1/2 inch??? But docks still in...

Esky harbor - docks in, no ice.

Esky River - docks in, some ice at the river mouth. Easy to bust through.

Folks put the boat in as late as they can!!! My brother and I were out on December 23rd one year. The fishing was awesome but I froze my tail off and will never do that again. Anyway, the few reports I have heard of late have been very goodsmilesmilesmile. The most recent report was from some folks that stayed with us last weekend and went out on a charter with Captain Keith Wils. I think they landed 14 keepers on Saturday. That is the most recent report I have. It sounds like there are plenty of fish in the bay, that's why I want some ice!!!

12/02/10 - The docks are still in at Escanaba, and the harbor is ice free. I called the Recreation dept. today and they said they would still be in through this weekend, and probably into the middle of next week. Docks are still in at the North Shore launch, but the river may be starting to ice up. I asked them to call the shop when they decide to pull the docks. I'll post when I hear from them.
