Got to the ice yesterday and just about turned around after seeing how windy it was. But we decided to give it a go. Was going to try at the base of a drop-off I haven't fished for sevral years, but someone had their shanty there. Not neing one to crowd someone, we moved out to basically in the middle of nowhere. Well, "nowhere" was not good for walleye as we didn't do squat for walleye. But there were some real nice perch. Even though we didn't really have anything to use for the perch, we did manage to pick off 3 of the stupid ones (10 1/2 incher plus two 11 1/2 inchers). Caught one a tip-up, and two on jigging raps. Today we went to try another spot we haven't fished for years and again found a shanty sitting right on top of where I wanted to be, but that's fishing. So we quickly picked out another spot to try. Checked some depths and liked what we found. Came prepared today for the perch and brought a few waxworms to try (which we left in the truck!). We got a late start though and I didn't really want to take the time to go back for them. So we quickly set a couple tip-ups and started jigging. Once again, there were perch as soon as we got our lines down and Theresa caught a small one right away. They would not leave one of the tip-ups alone either. I don't know how many times we reset that one tip-up. But we could only manage the one perch today. They were there until just before dark, then left. Just as we were getting ready to leave we had a flag and Theresa pulled up a nice walleye that went 20 inches on the nose and we came home. I will be fixing up a couple rods just for perch before going again. Haven't heard a good report on walleye for several days now, hope someone is catching a few...

Hey Kevin,

Sorry the fishin wasn't better, but made me feel better as I got skunked yesterday.
Thought I lost my touch.no  Sad part was, I was marking fish all afternoon and right till dark.   Lots and lots of lookers and threw everything at em I had, missed a couple perch hits and one decent walleye bump.  Hate it when they bump and run!!!
Fishin with the the family coming up this weekend starting this afternoon and hopefully the fish will get a little more aggresive.  Good luck and will keep you posted.
Slammer!!!
