Been a tough weekend and week on the bay for me . Wind , cold, inlaws, and no fish to speak of. Took the day off yesterday and pulled an all dayer today. Fished the northern bay and had a great morning . Started out slow and then at 9:30 all hell broke loose. Nailed and iced 3 keeper eyes 15.5 to 19, 5 jumbo perch, 2 northerns and get this...3-nice crappies. Yeah , crappies....What up wit dat. Marked a school of suspended fish and it was crappies 8-10 ft off bottom in 27 ft of water. Thought the night bite would be promising , but ended up with 3 more perch in the afternoon and 2-dinks. No night bite at all. Bummer, Nice moon though... Back to work for a week and then heading to San Diego for 10 days , so keep a few in the pond for me!!! Slammer!!!
Sounds like a pretty good day to me! We have seen a few crappies caught over the years, but not that many. To get 3 in one day is really something. Many, many years ago, a friend of my dad's used to cacth them off the Kipling Pier. Maybe with the increase in weeds thanks to the clear water, the crappie will come back. That wouldn't be all bad...
