Menominee is still iced solid. Bay is full and no where for it to go....Grrr.... Last year at this time had a nice brown in the box and a few others and my biggest eye was April 2... It ain't happenin this year....Grrrrrr.....
Captain Jim McDonald and I were talking about the same thing just last night as he checked out the Menominee River over the weekend too. Thankfully it's finally starting to warm up a little! Cripes, the river next to us was thawing, but then much of it refroze again this past week. What the $%$%!!! Needless to say, there is still plenty of ice on the bay for those that want to catch a few more perch through the ice...
Thanks for the update dude! I got my brother all fired up about coming this weekend but it looks like we're gonna have to postpone until April 9th. Oh well......I got plenty of stuff to do around the house anyhow but I'll probably sneek down sometime later this week to cast a few cranks and float a little spawn. It would be cool to catch one last fish on my 2010 license.
I just saw two boats putting in at Stephenson Island launch. Talked to a third guy that launched their yesterday and he said never again.. River is open pretty good out to almost the Mouth but the access is limited... Lot's of floaters and fast (shallow)water by Stephenson island but saw a seventeen lund out anchored jiggin... Wouldn't want to get tipped by big ice but to each their own.... Boom landing is still a little iced but bait shop said DPW will put in the left side dock sometime in the coming week.. Right side dock upright still needs fixing.... I will wait a few days yet I think. That fast shallow watter with lots of floaters dont look good to me alone..... I
