Blue Gill Soup

2 Tbsp unsalted butter

1 large onion (chopped)

2 med Leeks (chopped)

1 ˝ cups vegetable stock

3 med potatoes  (peeled & chopped)

1 Tsp curry powder

Salt & pepper

1 ˝  to 2 cups blue gill flaked

1 cup skim milk

˝ cup shredded carrots

2 garlic cloves (minced)

 

 

In large soup kettle over medium heat melt butter, add onions, leeks, carrots and garlic. Cook until soft add stock potatoes, curry, salt & pepper. Cover and simmer until potatoes are soft. Add Blue Gill and milk. Serve with warm rolls.

Hmmm... I saw similar recipe on Babe Winkelman... Said to myself "that looks yummy" Now this confirms it.. Might have to try with other fish because my shortage of panfish is depressing. When dem deerr perch gunna start slammin like mad??? Wanna make a trip or two up and get on that good spring bite like last year.. IDK all this time needed to cook who has time to fish..lol Thanx for the post.

Ya know, sometimes their is some activity in the old hat rack.  I thought it made the old brain stem quiver... well still looks good no matter where ya see it..

We make Walleye Chowder the same as above, BUT we add bacon and some drippings. It will get over powering if you add to much bacon and grease. For the above 1 maybe 2 strips of good smokey bacon should be enough. A cross for potato(e) soup and chowder. Thanks for the post almost forgot that one, we cooked it on the ice days ago but use what ever fish we had lot' of, usally pike. 1 med. would do it on the ice.
