Esky River, calm water, and hungry smallmouth, (gotta love the early catch and release season!)

Landed 6 smallies and a small pike this evening. Best one went 18 inches. Caught them all on Mann's Baby 1- crankbaits.

Hey Chris,

Nice job on the smallies.  Just wondering your favorite rod for bass fishin.  Length, weight, model. Never found that perfect smallie rod and just wondering what you use.  Appreciate it bro...

That's really a matter of personal preferance and how you're fishing for them. I have 4 or 5 spinning outfits that I use mainly for bass fishing, along with another couple baitcasting set-ups. I guess if I had to pick one, the one in these pictures is my favorite all round spinning rod. Its a 6'6" Fenwick HMX in medium light action, topped off with a good Daiwa reel and 8 pound Yo-zuri Hybrid line. It has a light tip section, but has plenty of backbone for driving home hooks. Works great for chucking cranks, or finessing soft plastics. It's an excellent Lindy Rigging rod, too.

Thanx man that is just the info I was looking for.  I have prob. five rods I go back and forth with depending situation and whether I am on shore , in canoe, or behind my troller.  action med. - light and length 5' 10" to 7' but don't like the action of any in most situations.  either to heavy or too light.  The one I like best is a 6'6" one piece and it doesn't fit in my rod storage without a bend to get it in.. Fenwick a two piece? thanx

That one is a one piece. I guess most of the rods I use for bass are that way. Just dumb luck, not a deliberate choice
