Anyone hear anything on the salmon at Fairport? Had a call today and I told them I would see what I could find out...

A couple people I know have been over there for a couple days. 4 Sunday evening, and 9 on Monday up to 25 pounds.

One of the charter captains told Diane he went 17 for 28 out of Manistique over the weekend.

Been over there quite a bit the last week-10 days. Caught fish every time, usually decent numbers and size. Had 3 20# or better in 3 partial day trips. My night vision is not good, so I don't fish the pre-dawn or late bite. Sunday, on the water from 11 AM until about 6, 10 fish, mixture of sizes, but mostly big or "nice". Winds are shifting the water all the time, fish are on the move. Folks catching from 75-150' of water. Blues, purples, Moonshines, Silver Streaks. The leadcore and copper has been best for me, but fishing during mid day is a factor in that. If I haven't been there for a bit, I usually start zig-zagging from 80 to 120' or so, see what the bite and graph shows me. Then I'll take a pass in the 140-160 range and see what happens. Temp breaks are important, but as Capt. Jim says, pay attention to the bait.
