Had some guests do pretty good yesterday so I guess the fish are bitin'! The two guys in room 4 ended up with 6 keeper walleye if I remember right. I did not speak to them after they fished this morning though, so I don't know how they did today before they headed home to Pulasky Wisconsin. Maybe they will let us know. The guys staying in our "apartment" also were happy with the fishing, but.....since I can't remember the exact numbers of their catch, that's as far as I will comment... A buddy of mine called me today and said a truck pulling a camper went through at a pressure crack yesterday out from the yellow gate. Sounds like the truck got pretty messed up. With the ice conditions we have this year, driving a vehicle on the ice is the last thing I would recommend until we get more ice. Safe for quads and snowmobiles, but not for full size vehicles yet (in my opinion). Coming home from Esky this afternoon (to my chagrin!) I saw some of the ice south of Gladstone has blown out and the bay is now wide open again from the Terrace Bay Inn south. What a goofy winter so far...
Thanks for the Report Kevin ...Also whats the pressure crack looking like on the west side ?...5 More days & Im comming down for a 4 day fishing trip ....SOO Looking forward to it
The only place I have been on the ice this year is in front of the Vagabond Resort. I have only been out once so far this year, but I hope to rectify that sorry statistic this week!!! I will do some checking though and and get back to you...
I try not to wish ill will toward anyone (usually) , but when ice fishing early in the ice making stages and not seeing any other trucks, cars, or campers out on the lake, wouldn't that be your sign ???? I know I've had some nasty mishaps out there, and would like to think I've learned from my mistakes and others. But, a truck and camper when only wheelers and sleds are traveling out there when the weather has not been condusive to making ice...........WTF. Hope nobody got hurt!!! Slammer!!!
Kevin- We ended up with one 13in perch and 7 walleyes on Sunday morning. All 7 walleyes were between 12-14 inches. Next year's model I guess. I also want to thank you again for the battery charger. ATV worked great on Sunday. Your hospitality and HONEST ice reports are the reason we keep coming back and will continue to do so!!! Also, 4 of our 6 keepers on Saturday came jigging on #7 glow hot perch.
As far as ice reports, we had anywhere from 8-10 inches of ice (measured). The pressure cracks were definitely moving on Saturday. The crack raised about 6 inches while we were out there on Saturday. Anyway, off to Baltimore for the week for work and back up there on Saturday for some more elusive fish.
Slammer - Met people at bait shop on Saturday morning who said they warned some people about heading out with truck and camper. Said they always put it out there this week every year. Don't know if it was them who went in. I couldn't agree more with your post about wtf were these people thinking. I am being extra careful with the quad at this point.
