Anyone know how much ice is along the break at the Terrace? Any cracks or anything to watch out for? I won't be going out until after dark (for Burbot), so I was just wondering if there is anything to watch out for aside from the heave in the shallows that you can see from the highway???
I'm not 100% certain but I noticed everyone going wide coming towards the boat launch there. They'd head straight towards the ramp and then peel off to the north and then back towards the ramp again. I was having a couple at the Terrace and noticed ALL groups of headlights doing this, not just one or two. Like I said, I'm not certain but if it were me, I'd stick to the heavy trail out that way or try to talk to someone coming off the ice. Be safe.
How much ice out there? Ive still got one month before I can make it up there. Like you, Im still hoping for some more ice growth, but are they driving trucks out there yet? And with that, would you drive your truck out there yet?
Please oh please ice grow....hate to have to get boat out this early. I need me some Little bay eyes.
I haven't fished out there myself yet so I'm not sure on ice thickness. I personally have not seen anything bigger than a sled or quad out there. I wouldn't drive out there. Then again, I tend to be over cautious.
My wife and I fished off Terrace on Saturday. There are two make shift bridges to cross. The one straight out didn't look very good. There's one a couple of hundred yards to the south that is better. Someone was where we wanted to go so we went a little north. We weren't the farthest north but we were close, out of the main group off Terrace. We had 10" of ice.
We had one flag and marked a few fish in the morning. The afternoon/evening was even slower. I think we only saw two fish pulled out of the water. Ran into two guys who had about 8 fish at the Terrace cleaning station. They were pretty coy about where they were at.
Kevin, we stopped by again on the way out of town but missed ya. At least we got to chat on Friday.
Hey Russ, sorry I missed you and Donna this weekend...would have been nice to chat. I spent Sat. afternoon at the movies with the kids and Grandpa Bob and then had to work on Sunday. Let me know next time you're coming over and maybe we can get out fishing together. Take care,
Ken
