A guy at work who re-married after many years has been talking to me about getting back into fishing. Well he bought a new (used) boat and was asking what to get. Well once you start adding it up I could have put him into debt 10-20 thousand but I told him you pick a little here and there and sooner or later you will have it. He picked a depthsounder and gps up off craigslist and was discouraged on how much you can spend. Then he told me last summer he took his step-daughter (mid teens) out and on the first or second cast she let go of the rod on a cast and gone it was.. After a chuckle and some thought I asked if he would b home later. I went home and started looking at gear I could spare (don't tell the wife cause your need all of it..lol) to help a brotha out. Well I easily rounded up six rod/reels, jigs and powder paint, hooks, sinkers, some sticks..ect... I dropped them at his house and said start with this and if she throws a few away I am not gunna fret.. He was almost speachless. I also gave him some in-fishermen video's to take a look at. Well the next day at work he told me they watched video about three times and she was going through each combo and asking questions about everything... I now have left him to wait in anticipation of the docks going in and the soft water fun to begin.... This to me is worth ten times fold anything I gave him and put a perma-grin on me knowing he can stay up at night now just like we all do waiting for softer water...lol
thats just awesome in my book!!! It makes me happy to know there are good (great!) friends and neighbors like you. Hope even a few people see this story and can do the same down the road! My hats off!!
