These reports are coming up way too often this year but yet again fishing was slow yesterday. Tried my luck on perch and northern in Esky harbor again. Got out late morning about 11 and sat till 5:30 with few fish seen. 2 and 3 inch minnows were the bait choice of the day. No action on tip ups all day. At around 1 I hooked into a nice northern on one of my perch rigs. Fought it for a little over a minute before getting it to the hole. Got it halfway into the shack and just as I reached for the gill plate, the line got tangled around the rod tip and it straightened the hook. I know estimates always tend to be on the higher side but I would say it was in the 32 to 36 in range coming in at at least 8 or 9 pounds. Nicest one I've had on this year. No perch were caught and few were seen. Pike hung around most the day with the one I lost being the only taker. Heading inland again this saturday and hopefully I'll have some more splake and maybe some browns or lakers to post about. Good luck all and may the force be with you!
